There’s a fascinating exhibition in Salisbury Museum curated by Andrew Ginger of luxury bed company Beaudesert. (which runs until 19 September) presents an innovative biographical view of legendary designer, photographer and artist, Sir Cecil Beaton, through his two Wiltshire homes which were simultaneously retreats and venues for his impressive entertaining. Against re-creations of his extravagant interiors, original photographs, artworks and possessions from both houses, Beaton’s private life unfolds – the unique talent for self-promotion, desire for theatricality and his uncertain pursuit of love. An amazing recreation of Beaton’s Circus bed designed by Rex Whistler and he famous “Rabbit Coat” are certainly the show stoppers of the exhibition.

London Design Festival 2014 – London Interior Design
The London Design Festival is an annual event, held to celebrate and promote London as the design capital of the world, and as the gateway to the international creative community. There’s no better place for London Interior design lovers than in September, when a raft of exciting launches, installations and exhibitions takes place across the capitol, from individual makers’ open studios to large-scale design shows.
Plain, Simple, Useful
Here at Concept Interior we have purchased Terence Conran’s Plan, Simple, Useful – the Essence of Conran. With various showrooms in and around London his great advice is perfect for any London Interior designers.
“The Pace of modern lift, with all its jolting distraction, increasingly means that the home must provide a solid, restorative framework for everyday life. First and foremost, that means it must serve the activities that take place within in its walls”.
Plain means materials that speak for themselves, uncluttered form, and an absence that is designed to obscure rather than enhance. Simple implies both ease of operation and a direct connection with the type of elemental pleasures that we go away on holiday to experience – the sun streaming through the windows, for example, the texture of a rug underfoot, or basic peace and quiet. Useful means true practicality, rather than gadgets and appliances whose plethora of functions invents problems to solve. Equally, it is a chair that is the right height and a bed provides the optimum degree of support.
The Queen of Serene
She’s back on our blog again; we really can’t get enough of Rose Uniacke this number one London interior designer, Rose Uniacke is ” The Queen of Serene”. This time she’s has had a superb write up in Style magazine with glorious photos of her family home in Pimlico, London.
Rose Uniacke quotes “I hope my style is Warm. I don’t think it’s minimal, I hope it’s more welcoming than that”. We couldn’t agree more with our fellow Interior designer she has created a great blend using classic pieces without overwhelming the space.
The house has a dramatic staircase made from beautiful Portland stone in the Entrance hall which is based on a Victorian design. It has replaced the mock Tudor stairs that were in the house when bought it in 2007. The painting on the landing is by Californian artist John Baldessari.

Space Odyssey, is the name created by Jan Lath for the rather unique space themed rug. Inspired from pictures taken from the Hubble telescope, these high definition carpets are more that miraculous. It took Jan Lath and her small group of weavers over 15 years to create and make these rugs. The impressive gas clouds use up to 60 different colours of thread and the Chinese silk and Tibetan highland wools are all handmade to provide the subtle variations needed to produce this universe and its distinct patterns. Artisan Design company’s such as Front, really do give interior designers in London the opportunity to seek out stunning and individual pieces to give their projects an edge.
